Eleutheria

23 June 2022 - 19:30 - 20:10   |  Kantine Walhalla - Downstairs

Eleutheria is a modern jazz quartet and the winner of Erasmus jazz prize 2022, formed by a Slovenian vocalist Teja Poljanšek. The band was created in 2020, consisting of all then-Codarts-students, now some already alumni. In 2021, they performed in Lantaren Venster on a Brand new jazz festival and in 2022, they won the prestigious Erasmus jazz prize. Their versatile repertoire mostly consists of original music and is influenced by Esperanza Spalding, Gretchen Parlato, Avishai Cohen, Yebba, Hiatus Kaiyote,…

A big emphasis of the band is on story-telling and delivering a message. Their stories are told through the dynamic compositions, sometimes rooted in richer rhythmical and harmonic material, and other times more simple and lyrical. The music is performed with a strong interpretation and expressive arrangements, enhanced with four backing vocalists. The total of five voices give music additional depth and offer a special sound, which makes the whole musical journey unique.
