Matchmaking

One of the official networking moments during inJazz are the Matchmaking sessions. Musicians, managers, label owners, media professionals, journalists and festival organisers meet each other in the private networking location. You need to register online for these matchmaking sessions after registering for the conference.

Application for our Matchmaking Sessions is no longer possible. Deadline was 17 June.

The sessions with most of the professionals are fully booked. We do have good news: we have some spots with a number of professionals are up for grabs at the Matchmaking Sessions. How to apply? On Friday, the desk near Room 1 will be open from 10 am on. As the places are limited and popular, we advise you to be there as soon as possible! A particularly important point: bring your own media-player with you if you want to let them hear your music.

Simon Alter

Organisation: Musszo Booking
Country: Germany

Musszo is an artist agency based in Berlin, founded in 2011 by Simon Alter and focused on tour booking and artist management within the genres of pop, jazz and global music. We are working on club and festival booking within GSA and Europe, promoting shows in the area of Berlin and developing artist careers on international level.

Club promoters and festival promoters are the most interesting to me. Also other booking agencies working on an international level.

Silvia Biemans

Organisation: Sena
Country: The Netherlands

Sena manages the rights of performers and producers, who receive payment from Sena when their music has been played in public. This thanks to the music licenses that businesses and organizations purchase at Sena.

Silvia has been working in the Dutch music industry for almost 25 year and has been with Sena since 2017 as accountmanager customer relations. Within her job she is responsible for staying in close contact with key accounts and other rightsholders, alongside spreading the word about Sena within the Netherlands. Questions about your neighbouring rights in the Netherlands, or even worldwide? Feel free to contact Silvia at any time!

In case you are a music maker (musician or producer), please do come and match with Silvia!
You’re a music maker if you are a musician (a soloist, band, session musician, choir or orchestra member for example). The other option is that you are producer (producer like in the record company or when you selfpublish music – not to be confused with the studio producer). You have to have been involved in a record or CD recording or commercial download. So, are you this musician or producer and you would like to know more about neighbouring rights in and outside of Holland, or you would like to receive some information on receiving financial assistance for your record or event, please match with me. Looking forward meeting you at Injazz!

Miriam Brenner

Organisation: Kokako Music
Country: The Netherlands

Miriam Brenner (NL/USA) has a background in musicology, has programmed esteemed international music festivals (Music Meeting and Festival Mundial) and produced at a pivotal venue. Clients: Bimhuis, NSJ, Jarasum Jazz, EUJN members. Coordinator Utrecht World Music.

I’d like to speak with programmers to build a stronger block-book (EU) network. I run a boutique agency, manage a limited amount of artists and do not continually take on new artists. However, I would like to speak with artists who have good representation already, are interested in this market and are exportready. Always interested in meeting artists and agents, who already have advanced plans for neighbouring countries, to build future collaborations.
Other professionals are always welcome as well. Especially to converse about gender equality, lusofone focus etc.

Yacine N’Diaye

Organisation: NORMA
Country: The Netherlands

NORMA represents all kind of performing artists, such as musicians, dancers and actors. We manage the neighbouring rights for starting talents and established names. Anne has been working at the Estonian Public Broadcasting Union for more than 50 years, several years presented Estonia at the EBUjazz producers working group and until now she is the presenter of Vikerraadio’s jazz show “Õhtujazz/ Monday Evening Jazz”).

Anne Erm restored the tradition of Estonian jazz festivals in 1990 hence there was a 23-year gap after the world famous Estonian jazz festival “Tallinn-67”. Jazzkaar grew out to be the biggest jazz festival in the Baltic region with Anne as the leading figure and the musical director. The 10-day jazz celebration takes place every April primarily in Tallinn. In addition to the annual spring festival, Jazzkaar also organizes a Christmas Jazz special and two concert seasons: Winter Jazz and Autumn Jazz.
The festival has received international recognition for the excellent organization and compelling programming. Jazzkaar has been a member of the European Jazz Network for more than 20 years.

I am happy to see fellow organizers, colleagues, and musicians taking an interest in festival activities and programming. We aim to inspire the younger audience to learn about jazz and visit jazz concerts more often. The average age of Jazzkaar audience is 36 years.

Imke de Feber

Organisation: Powered by TINC
Country: The Netherlands

Marketeer in the creative and cultural sector. Daily working with musicians, creators and other creatives. After finishing her studies ‘Arts & Economics’ (expertise: Music Management) at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, she created her own vision on the cultural climate: every (fulltime) creative creator will be or become an entrepreneur. Imke’s main goal is to create the right environment for these creators to thrive and prosper. Not only in their art, but in their entrepreneurship as well. In Powered by TINC she found a team of experts with that same vision. Their joint goal is to create an efficient infrastructure devoted to enabling encounters between people through music.

At the matchmaking I would like to meet musical creators who want to contribute to our vision, goals and essence (check these out at www.poweredbytinc.com) and cultural organizations, businesses or individuals that could use our help creating memorable moments through music.

Kine Granholt Lundervold

Organisation: Musikkprofil Booking & Management / Division Records

I’m Kine and I work for Musikkprofil, a Norwegian booking and management agency for jazz, folk, pop and soul musicians from Norway. We work with (among others) Mathias Eick, Tord Gustavsen, Espen Berg Trio, Siril Malmedal Hauge, Mozambique and Eberson. In September 2018 I moved to Berlin to set up a Musikkprofil-office, the aim of that is to create more opportunities in the German and central European jazz market for our musicians and bands.

There has been a tendency in different matchmaking sessions to set booking agents up with labels, musicians, distributors and so on.
However, the thing that is always most relevant to booking agents is to be able to present our line up to people in charge of programming festivals and venues. That’s the people I would love to meet on the other side of the table.

Fira B! / Government of the Balearic Islands; music director / project manager

I work for the Government of the Balearic Islands, as the project manager for the Balearic Islands’ culture export office. Our aim is to promote the music of our region outside of the islands, by funding the artists and liasing with festivals and other organisations. As part of our strategy, we have a showcasing festival, Fira B!, which happens on the first week of October in Mallorca. It showcases 70% artists from the Balearics and 30% from elsewhere. On our last edition we had promoters from 27 countries and 4 continents. Applications from artists for 2020 are welcome and will be open in January 2020.

Our aim is to meet musicians interested in applying to our showcasing festival, as well as promoters that would like to attend the festival or that could be interested in exploring collaborations, exchanges or simply programming artists from our islands.

Joachim Caffonnette

Organisation: Les Lundis d'Hortense
Country: Belgium

Born in 1989 in Brussels and brought up in an artistic environment since his earliest childhood, Joachim Caffonnette takes his first piano lessons at the age of 5. After meandering through the classical universe, he discovers jazz at the same time as puberty and starts taking his instrument very seriously. He then spends a few years at Brussels’ royal conservatories while wearing out the keys of the every piano he comes across in local clubs. After dozens of concerts, he founds his own quintet in 2011 (Album Simplexity, AZ Productions, 2015). The year 2019 witness the birth of a first album in trio (Vers l’azur noir, Neuklang Records). Very active musician and composer, Joachim is also deeply committed to the jazz community and fierce defender of culture and those who create with their hearts, Joachim Caffonnette attempts at steering his ship with integrity and an unwavering passion.

For the people I would like to meet: It’s always the trickiest part of being chairman of an association of musicians, always between two worlds… Promoters works for me, but if there is some equivalent associations as ours that would be very interesting as well, exchange views and see if collaboration would be possible.

She is currently working at Poppunt, representing the Belgian jazz, folk & world music scene.

I would love to meet everyone actually: musicians, managers, venues/festivals, labels, like-minded organisations with the same mission statement, you name it! I can learn from everyone!

Joshua Dellaert

He enjoys a wide range of music, people and really old things that still work.

Any artists wishing to be considered for the Manchester Jazz Festival programme: please view our current programme at www.manchesterjazz.com and take a look at our Artists Submissions process, which you can use to get your music and proposals for the festival to me. I listen to everything that is uploaded there. Check out our programming priorities to see if your music would work well at mjf. We only support contemporary original work and you will need to demonstrate what it is about your music that our audiences cannot get anywhere else. European artists account for around 15% of the mjf programme and on average I book about 2 Dutch bands per year.

It is unlikely I will book a band just on one meeting or listening to a CD – I prefer to hear a live performance and I also prefer to receive information digitally. I’d like to meet artists I haven’t met before at these matchmaking sessions, so will prioritise new sign-ups. You can bring along a device to play me 3 minutes of your music if you want to – I’ll bring my headphones.

“Love Migration is an unforgettable journey, to enjoy from the first note to the last” -Written in music

I’m always looking for interesting collaborations. I recently released a new album of Lasino music and doing a co-production with the Amsterdam Roots Festival around the Ladino theme. I also premiered a unique Tribute to Nina Simone and Bach in march, so conversations around this theme would be interesting too.
