Flatland Prayer

Flatland Prayer is an Amsterdam-based trio weaving together American folk traditions, jazz improvisation, and spoken word into a cinematic kind of storytelling. Led by bassist and composer River Adomeit, with Antonio Moreno Glazkov on trumpet and vocals by Līva Dumpe, their music traces the fault lines of modern myth and identity — blending intimacy, satire, and emotional rawness in equal measure.

Winners of Keep an Eye: The Records 2025, Flatland Prayer approaches each performance as a complete narrative arc rather than a conventional setlist, merging theatrical pacing with spontaneous improvisation. Their latest concept album, FANATIC (2026), examines the rise of political fanaticism in America with both humor and empathy, and features collaborations with artists like Joris Roelofs and visual designer Bjørk Semey.

Outside the trio, River Adomeit performs internationally with Mongolian singer Enji and is a member of Amsterdam’s Splendor collective; Līva Dumpe and Antonio Moreno Glazkov are active throughout Europe’s contemporary jazz and improvisation scenes.
With each project, Flatland Prayer pushes the boundaries between song and stage — inviting listeners into a sound world that is equal parts folk tale, sermon, and fever dream.

*Digging the Archives
River Adomeit dug up a poem by Sonja Prins (1912 – 2009) that perfectly fits the message of Flatland Prayer. Sonja was a Dutch poet, writer, and resistance fighter (1912–2009) known for her politically engaged and socially conscious work. Her oeuvre includes poetry, prose, and essays that often reflect themes of anti-fascism, communism, feminism, and solidarity with marginalized groups. She is especially recognized for her direct, activist style and for integrating her experiences in the resistance during World War II into her literary voice.
