In recent years, an average of ± 6 per year
How is the label organised?
TryTone is a foundation and therefore not-for-profit. It is a collective of musicians, and the artistic team consists of Marcos Baggiani, Kristina Fuchs, Guillermo Celano, Andrius Dereviancenko, Oguz Büyükberber and Tobias Klein.
What selection criteria apply to the release of the music?
Adventurous jazz, improvisational music and contemporary composed music. Adventurous means that artistic risks are taken, an original sound is pursued and the artist’s clear artistic signature and creativity can be heard. It is “living” music that can also be heard live.
Does the label itself invest in new releases?
TryTone does not invest in releases itself. On the other hand, the proceeds from sales and digital distribution are paid directly to the artists, with a small deduction to cover overheads.
Does the label work with the act/artist on more than just a release, career planning, repertoire development, marketing, for example?
No.
How internationally or nationally oriented is the label?
TryTone focuses on artists based in the Netherlands and surrounding areas. In terms of PR, however, the label has a strong international orientation. TryTone releases are frequently reviewed and played throughout Europe, North America and elsewhere.
