New Music and New Travels
17 February 2025
We are happy to mention some new music and travels by inJazz alumni.
Out now is Seafarer, the second album by Loek van den Berg (inJazz 2023), recorded with the same quintet as its predecessor Wayfarer.
NAUSYQA (inJazz 2024 & 2021) have presented their album PUNQ over the last couple of weeks on stages in the Netherlands.
Blue Sands (bass guitarist Reindert Kragt and singer Esther van Hees, inJazz 2020) have released For You, featuring many guest players, to critical acclaim.
Also, make sure to check out Prepare To Die! by Ragnarök Trio – Thorkell Ragnar Grétarsson (guitar), Jens Meijer (drums), and Jesse Schilderink (tenor sax) – who blew us away at Batavierhuis during inJazz 2023.
And we’re looking forward to the release of Y.O.P.E.’s second album peer pleasure (out 26 February) and their release show in Paradiso.
Travels
The eclectic and dynamic Wojtek Justyna TreeOh! will tour Germany in February. Great to see that NAUSYQA will play at Jazz I Am in Barcelona in March, that Freek ‘kotokid‘ Mulder (inJazz 2022) will be performing at Talinn Music Week in Estonia in April, while Raquel Kurpershoek (inJazz 2023) and her trio have been invited to showcase their new songs at Atlantic Music Expo in Praia, Cape Verde, also in April. Last but not least: how wonderful to see that Sanem Kalfa Miraculous Layers (inJazz 2023) has been booked at Manchester Jazz Festival in May!
