From October 3 to 5, 2025, TivoliVredenburg will be entirely dedicated to Dutch jazz during the very first edition of Orange Jazz Days. From the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, led by Reinier Baas, to the duo Han Bennink & Hans Dulfer, Orange Jazz Days showcases the richness and quality of the Dutch jazz scene today. Expect new work from Marike van Dijk’s Nu-Art Orchestra, the new ensemble-in-residence at TivoliVredenburg. The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw will pay tribute to the unconventional Misha Mengelberg, while the Paradox Jazz Orchestra will present a program featuring the finest works of (film) composer Ruud Bos.
Orange Jazz Days places a strong emphasis on new compositions. Trumpeter Eric Vloeimans has been commissioned to compose a Dutch Jazz Suite, weaving together the tradition and diversity of Dutch jazz into a captivating piece. Kika Sprangers and the Jeroen van Vliet Septet will also perform recently commissioned works. Other confirmed acts include Martin Fondse & Femi Dawkins, Joris Roelofs, Loek van den Berg Quintet, PARRA.DICE, .multibeat, WAAN, and Chatlein i su Zumbi.
The final festival day will revolve around the alto saxophone with Benjamin Herman’s European Alto Festival, where this edition will feature exclusively Dutch compositions. With his regular band and an international lineup of top alto saxophonists (including Erena Terakubo from Japan), Herman will deliver an energetic and playful closing performance for the first edition of Orange Jazz Days.
Orange Jazz Days is organized in collaboration with inJazz. More information about the modest conference program on Friday, October 3, will follow in the spring.
Orange Jazz Days: 3 tot en met 5 oktober 2025
Van 3 tot en met 5 oktober 2025 staat TivoliVredenburg volledig in het teken van de Nederlandse jazz tijdens de allereerste editie van Orange Jazz Days. Van het Nationaal Jeugd Jazz Orkest o.l.v. Reinier Baas tot het duo Han Bennink & Hans Dulfer, biedt Orange Jazz Days alle rijkdom en kwaliteit van de Nederlandse jazzscene anno nu. Verwacht nieuw werk van Marike van Dijk’s Nu-Art Orchestra, het nieuwe ensemble in residence van TivoliVredenburg. Het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw brengt een eerbetoon aan de eigenzinnige Misha Mengelberg, terwijl het Paradox Jazz Orchestra een programma wijdt aan de mooiste werken van (film)componist Ruud Bos.
Orange Jazz Days zet sterk in op nieuw werk. Trompettist Eric Vloeimans kreeg de opdracht een Nederlandse Jazz-suite te schrijven, waarin hij de traditie en veelzijdigheid van de Nederlandse jazz in een meeslepend geheel samenbrengt. Kika Sprangers en Jeroen van Vliet Septet zullen recente, in opdracht geschreven werken laten horen. Ook reeds vastgelegd zijn Martin Fondse & Femi Dawkins, Joris Roelofs, Loek van den Berg Quintet, PARRA.DICE, .multibeat, WAAN en Chatlein i su Zumbi.
De laatste festivaldag staat in het teken van de altsaxofoon met Benjamin Herman’s European Alto Festival, waar op deze editie uitsluitend Nederlandse composities worden gespeeld. Met zijn vaste band en een internationaal gezelschap van altsaxtoppers (o.a. Erena Terakubo uit Japan) brengt Herman een energiek en speels slotakkoord voor deze eerste editie van Orange Jazz Days.
