Eric Vloeimans’ Pico Bello Extended
Saturday, October 4, 2025 - Orange Jazz Days 2025, TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht
For Orange Jazz Days, trumpeter and composer Eric Vloeimans was commissioned to write a new composition: a suite that fully expresses his personal signature. With his characteristic lyrical tone, subtle melancholy, and boundless musicality, Vloeimans creates a work in which jazz, classical music, and improvisation seamlessly blend. The result is a rich and compelling suite that can be both intimate and exuberant, performed by top musicians.
During the composition of “Orange Jazz,” he was drawn to the inspiring color orange – a hue that constantly reinvents itself. From warm amber and robust pumpkin to radiant cadmium and bright neon: each of these shades formed a facet of his creative quest. This multitude of nuances reflects the versatility that also resonates in his music.
This work centers on Vloeimans’ unique voice and vision: a musical journey in which color, emotion, and imagination reinforce each other. Pico Bello premieres on the main stage – an adventure where past, present and future meet, and where orange shines as a musical metaphor.
