Fay Claassen

Fay Claassen – one of the Netherlands’ most celebrated jazz voices – joins forces with pianist Karel Boehlee, guitarist Peter Tiehuis and bassist Theo de Jong for their latest album ‘Soulprint’. Released in late 2025, Soulprint showcases a deeply personal collection of original compositions, blending jazz sophistication, soulful grooves and intimate songwriting. With her signature warm, expressive vocals, Fay invites the listener into a musical journey full of emotion, poetry and subtle improvisation. Over the course of her career she has won multiple prestigious awards – including four Edison Jazz Awards – as well as the Chet Baker Award and a Golden Record. *Composer-arranger Rogier van Otterloo is one of the icons of Dutch light music. His work was widely appreciated and the freshness of his arrangements is still unsurpassed. Although classically educated, Van Otterloo was first and foremost a jazzman.
The Dutch Jazz Archive acquired his estate in 2023 and is proud that it has already resulted in several projects. In Diggin’ the Archives, Fay Claassen presents her own unique version of ‘Dat mistige rooie beest’, from the famous film Turks Fruit, for which Rogier van Otterloo wrote an almost epic soundtrack.
