Franz von Chossy

Franz von Chossy is a German-born, Dutch-based jazz pianist and composer, born in Munich (1979). Known for his lyrical touch, refined harmonic language, and deeply personal sound, he has established himself as a distinctive voice in contemporary European jazz. His music blends tradition with modern influences, often characterized by rich melodies and subtle storytelling.

Von Chossy gained early recognition by winning the Dutch Jazz Competition in 2006 with his trio, and receiving the Best Soloist Award at the same event for his subtle, spacious, and personal playing. These awards marked the beginning of his international career, leading to performances across Europe, the US, and beyond.

In this intimate Pocket Concerts session, Franz presents a solo performance that captures the essence of his musical identity—thoughtful, dynamic, and deeply engaging. His latest release, Mirror 9 (2026) with his Franz von Chossy Group, continues to explore new sonic landscapes, reaffirming his place among today’s leading jazz pianists.
